“Hola” is not Korean

I have to constantly remind myself that just because I’m in a foreign country does not mean any foreign language will work just fine.

My instinct when I enter a kimbap shop is to say, “Kimbap uno por favor.”

About half the time, I’d probably get the same response as if I was using English. So I really wouldn’t be losing much.

Except maybe my sanity.

  1. I’m fluent in Spanish and catch myself all the time, I mean ALL THE TIME, saying “Hola” or other things in Spanish to my co-teacher and staff. Puzzled looks are always bounced right back at me; I can’t help but chuckle about it and I swear I try my best not to do it.
    Cool blog! Keep it up!
